We are constantly looking for ways to improve and make both the app functionality and the litter picking process easier, better, and smoother. Here are a few tips and best practices that we have gathered from the community.

Best Practices:

  1. Use reusable protective gloves or a litter grabber

    1. Here's an article on how to make a smart litter grabber: instructables.com/smart-litter-grabber

  2. If there are many pieces of litter close together, take all the photos first, and then pick up the items.

  3. If you're with a friend, have one person take photos and the other pick up litter.

  4. Use a 5-gallon bucket instead of a trash bag, it’s wind resistant and you can set it down.

  5. If you're walking with your dog, you can use doggie bags to collect any impromptu litter you find on your walk.

Battery Conservation:

  1. Turn off "Maximum Location Accuracy" and turn on "Upload only via Wi-Fi" in the app settings.

  2. Put your phone into low battery mode to preemptively preserve battery life

  3. Bring a backup battery

  4. Put your phone in airplane/flight mode (GPS signal should work)

We hope that helps! If you have any questions or requests, contact us at support@litterati.org, or send us a direct message on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
